Demo Team News

The Teens have been the active demo group lately. It was a pleasure to work with them in preparation for their trip to Houston and the demos there. As a result of the enthusiasm of the teens, there is a change in the demo rehearsal schedule. Adults will meet the first Friday of the month at 7:30 pm. The third Friday will be left free for extra rehearsals when required. The Teens will meet the fourth Friday of the month at 6:30 pm.

News from Around the State

San Antonio

The Fifth Annual Bluebonnet Ball was held in San Antonio April 6th. All responses were very positive. We danced 19 dances, some of them twice. Fiddle champion Elke Baker and pianist Liz Donaldson kept our feet going with nearly 4 1/2 hours of exceptional music. It was a pleasure for all to dance with such graceful, handsome, funny, cooperative, and lively people. As always, the young people from Austin showed us what Scottish Country Dancing is all about.

The Bluebonnets also performed the weekend of April 6 at the San Antonio Highland Games in Helotes. Due to the traditional Scottish weather, cold mist and light rain, we were not able to perform as scheduled but did find time between band performances on the big stage. The Sunday performance was also done in the large pavilion. We danced MacPherson's Jig, Trip to Gatlinburg, Sauchie Haugh and Mairi's Wedding. At the end of Mairi's Wedding, Torf joined in with all hands around.

The Bluebonnets meet at Our Lady of the Lake University, at the Cultural Center every Sunday afternoon from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. We invite all who are interested in having a great time. You can contact Pam Keith at (830) 980-7913 for more information.
